With Father’s Day just around the corner (it’s on Sunday 21st June for those who don’t know!) it’s time to start thinking about Dad, and the things you can do to show how much you appreciate him. I don’t think there’s any need to spend big. The number of £££ you spend is irrelevant, what matters is the personal touches that will make Dad feel valued. I’ve come up with a few ideas to show Dad you care, without breaking the bank!
1. Make a handmade card
It really is true what they say, it’s the thought that counts. Taking a few minutes out of your day to fashion a card for Dad yourself will mean so much more than a Clinton’s job! It doesn’t have to be too difficult either, maybe try your hand at origami or a cool typographic message, and the best thing is that you can tailor your design to your Dad’s interests.
2. Treat him to breakfast
Take Dad to his favourite local cafe for a spot of breakfast on Father’s Day. It’ll be great to spend some quality time together and you both get to eat good food. Win win! If you’re keeping a closer eye on the purse strings, rustle up an at-home breakfast. I’d definitely recommend a pancake breakfast with bacon and maple syrup, and some good quality coffee!
3. Make his favourite treat
Whether he’s a lover of chocolate, or more interested in treats of the dessert variety, rustle up a batch of his favourites. Who doesn’t love a little treat on a special day? And knowing you went to the effort to make it yourself will be the icing on the cake (excuse the pun)!
4. Plan a day he’ll love
Go for a hike, plan a Marvel movie marathon or play a round of golf. Fill up the day with activities that you know Dad will love. It’s one of the easiest ways to show Dad that the day is all about him, and he’ll appreciate you getting involved in the things that he finds fun!
5. Tell him you love him
It’s something that I would 100% say people do not do enough. The best way to let someone know you love and appreciate them? Just come straight out and say it! It’s just a few little words but it’ll mean a whole lot!
What have you got planned for your Dad this Father’s Day? Do you have any traditions that you like to keep or any surprises up your sleeve? I’d love to hear your ideas!
